Senior Support Worker: Sponsorship Available

Job Summary

Work as part of the Prison Health Team at HMP Fosse Way, providing support to patients with health difficulties, during the time they spend in prison and when they are first released back into the community.

Work is guided by standard operating procedures, protocols or systems of work but the post holder will make judgements and plan activities, which contributes to service development and demonstrates self-development within their scope of competency.

May have responsibility for supervision of some staff and participate in the mentorship of learners.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with the support and supervision of the Clinical Matron.

The role involves working working as part of the Integrated Healthcare team within a custodial setting and at times in the community as required.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 or above in a Health/Justice related specialty.

Training

Essential

  • Willingness to undertake new clinical practices, education and training that will enhance service delivery.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Advanced knowledge of the principals of medication management and concordance
  • Knowledge of education of others and identification of training requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Care Programme Approach, Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty and Safeguarding etc
  • Knowledge and understanding of current legislation and understanding of clinical risk assessments
  • Knowledge of the nursing 6 c’s

Desirable

  • Awareness of national and local issues impacting of nursing care.

Experience

  • Demonstrate satisfactory clinical expertise for the banding.

  • The ability to deal with and resolve conflict.
