Cancer Support Worker: Sponsorship Available

An opportunity has arisen for a full time fixed term band 4 cancer support worker to join the prostate nursing team , as part of the patient directed open access programme. The CSW will work closely with the wider team of ANP’s and CNS’s and other CSW’s. They will also be responsible for completing the Holistic needs assessment for all new patients, and assist with answering calls and emails. The Urology SRG sits within the Radiation services division at The Clatterbridge Cancer.

This role is currently based at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in Liverpool, however you will be required to travel between our network hospital sites, and will work across 2 locations (Liverpool and Wirral, base location being Liverpool) in the future.

Point of contact for patient queries.

You should possess excellent communication skills, be highly motivated and have experience with cancer care in order to support patients to navigate the complex health and social care system during and following completion of cancer treatment. The post holder will provide advice and support to patients and their carer’s and help to shape the future of the cancer services at the centre and plan for the developments of Transforming Cancer Care for our patients in the Cheshire and Merseyside area.

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s leading providers of non-surgical cancer treatment, caring for a population of 2.4 million people across Cheshire & Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire.

Our flagship specialist cancer hospital in Liverpool opened in June 2020, supported by our hospital on the Clatterbridge Health Park in Wirral providing outpatient cancer treatment and supportive care, and our radiotherapy treatment centre on the Aintree Hospital site.Together, working across three sites and operating specialist chemotherapy clinics in four of Merseyside’s district hospitals, we are able to deliver a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies. Qualification

Essential

  • NVQ 3 or 4 plus additional training to diploma level equivalent, or equivalent through short courses
  • GCSE English Language and Mathematics (grades A-C) or equivalent

  • Coaching or teaching qualification
