Business Development Manager: Sponsorship Available

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated person who would like to join our exciting team at Imperial College Healthcare Private Care as a Business Development Manager on a fixed term maternity cover.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to develop their skills further and gain invaluable experience whilst working with a great team.

The post holder will report to the Business Development Director.

The successful candidate is required to be able demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification. This is an exciting and varied role that will provide a great learning experience for someone who wishes to further develop their business development, project management and marketing skills.

Main duties of the job

  • Prospect for and evaluate service ideas arising from the wide stakeholder group and, where commercially viable, develop those ideas into full business plans or business cases as appropriate to the scale of the proposal, ensuring the involvement of Director of Business Development and from the relevant department leads.
  • Lead on business development and marketing projects and initiatives.
  • Develop new commercial proposals, or respond to those proposed by purchasers, for the provision of existing services, using good judgement and analytical evidence to ensure the IPH / Trust income is maximised and that every commercial agreement is making a demonstrable contribution to the Trust’s financial position.
  • Seek new commercial opportunities with new and existing partners, developing innovative services, business models and ways of working to secure additional private healthcare and commercial income streams.
  • Undertake research into private and commercial healthcare markets in order to brief and inform the Director of Business Development and other stakeholders for key meetings, high level decision making and development of the private patient and commercial strategy.

Person Specification

Education/ Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent training and/or experience.

Desirable

  • Master’s in Business Administration

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of owning and writing complex business cases for clinical services
  • Broad knowledge of utilising information technology to provide management information reports, particularly financial and activity reporting
  • Experience at dealing with very senior people both internally and externally
  • Proven experience of working successfully as part of several teams
  • A successful record of achievement in managing change, particularly with regards to the effect on staff

Desirable

  • Experience at project management, with a good understanding of the complexities involved

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

Essential

  • Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to build strong and credible relationships at a senior level across all operational and financial disciplines and across organisations
  • Excellent judgement, and the ability to act autonomously in the interests of the business
  • Ability to produce clear and concise written material, including the analysis of data, using appropriate IT packages including spreadsheets and PowerPoint
  • Strong management skills
