Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Advanced Therapy Technician to support the continued work of the Proportionate Care Project (Single Handed Care) at the University Hospital Southampton. You will be working alongside our Occupational Therapist project manager to promote the Single Handed Care initiative. You will assist in identifying patients suitable for the Single Handed Care pathway and support in the roll out of education/training in the Trust and within the local system. You will develop your knowledge around Single Handed Care techniques and moving & handling. You will also work closely with Occupational Therapy students and support the development of an emerging evidence base.
This is an innovative role, offering a unique opportunity to develop clinical knowledge across a wide range of clinical wards.
We are looking for someone enthusiastic about service development and delivering the right care to support our patient’s needs for discharge.
This post is part of the wider Therapy services department. You will have many opportunities to develop new skills and knowledge through our in-service training. You will be part of a large department of over 290 wte Therapy staff including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy support staff, so will have peer support available to you.
We run a 7-day therapy service so weekend working and bank holiday cover, on a roster basis, will be expected as part of your working hours.

This job is based within the Therapies Department. It offers the opportunity to work in a friendly, supportive MDT environment to improve patient care and experience. It is a fast-paced environment where effective communication, prioritisation, and delegation skills are essential.
This is an excellent opportunity for networking, working with many organisations, including our community teams, our hospital transformation team and NHS England.You will be closely supported by the Single Handed Care team and the Project Lead. The role will include handling and analysing data to support the sustainability of this transformation project.
Essential skills for this role: Experience of working in the acute hospital setting Experience of working within a large MDT and communicating effectively Experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word Experience in Moving & Handling
